The Convener of The Green Republic Project on Thursday 21st November 2019 paid a visit to its first planting site in Yong Dakpem Yili in Tamale in the Northern region of Ghana where it planted 3500 trees on July 1st 2018 to acquaint himself with progress of the project in the company of the National Coordinator Abdul Alhassan Latif and Frank Osei of the media section.
The team was happy to see the plantation doing very well and growing in stature in just a year and four months after planting. The Convener, Nana Yaw Osei-Darkwa was so impressed with the success rate of over 85% and thanked his team in the Northern region for a great job done in caring for the trees to survive under very harsh weather conditions.
He said the Yong Dakpem Yili project which was TGRP's very first in the North serves as a vivid testimony of what a determination could lead to detailing the difficult financial and logistical nightmare the team had to endure to execute the maiden plantation.
" We can only be inspired and motivated by what we have witnessed here this afternoon to do more in our quest to help overcome the climate challenge through restoration of our degraded and deforested landscapes and we are staying through to our commitment and pledge to plant 20million trees by 2028.
